I couldn’t tell my husband, even though I’d gone to the interview.
After her interview, Jiyeon thinks first of her husband’s reaction, not whether she’ll get the job.
After interviewing for a new job, Jiyeon hesitates over how to talk about something not yet decided, with a major choice ahead that she and her husband need to make together.
When Jiyeon gets home after the interview, her husband says they can talk once she hears back. In counseling, Dowon looks with her at the circumstances she’s facing, without tying the interview result to the decision they need to make as a couple. Without having told him she went to the interview, Jiyeon opens her mouth at the dinner table.
When words fail before a big decision
When you think about both an unanswered question and something you need to discuss together, it can be hard to know where to start.
Before a big decision, who would you like to talk to first, and what would you like to say?
The moment when she had to bring it up before hearing back about the interview stayed with her. A major decision can’t be settled by one person’s feelings alone, so it seemed they needed to separate waiting for the result from what they needed to discuss together. If there’s been a day when you swallowed similar words, you can tell us about it too. We’ll look at it together.
