I keep running late getting ready for work.
Every morning, I open my closet and stand there for ages. A comment from a coworker who got to work before me sheds a different light on that hesitation.
Jiyoon keeps getting ready for work late, and can’t say what pace works for her when a coworker who arrived first urges her along.
Jiyoon is often slow getting ready in the morning. She talks about her career with Dowon. In their session that day, Dowon listens as Jiyoon talks about getting ready for work and her coworker’s urging, then asks about the pace she works at. Jiyoon can’t answer right away. She looks toward a morning that isn’t over yet.
When getting ready for work takes too long
Before trying to keep up with someone else, you can look at what rhythm helps your work go well.
Where do you spend the most time getting stuck while getting ready for work?
We looked together at the moment she stands for a long time in front of her closet before work. As she tries to keep up with her coworker’s quick pace, we also saw how she still hasn’t found the words to talk about her own pace at work. If you’re going through similar mornings, you’re welcome to tell us about them too.
Scenes
- 01 · A Morning Running Late Every morning — Jiyoon takes out a shirt for work, holds it against herself, and looks in the mirror for a long time. She worries she’ll be late getting ready, but she can’t decide what to wear.

- 02 · Words from Someone Who Came First Late again, huh? — By the entrance, Minjae looks at Jiyoon and speaks. She stops just as she’s about to tap her card on the reader. Minjae: Jiyoon, were you running late getting ready again today? Jiyoon: It takes me a while to pick out clothes every morning.

- 03 · A Difference in Pace Talking it through — In the counseling room, Jiyoon talks about slow mornings and what Minjae said. Dowon listens to both. Jiyoon: I have to take my time getting ready so I don’t forget anything. Dowon: You like to take a careful look at things. What would it be like to consider that pace alongside the pace your company expects?

- 04 · Before Answering Still unsaid — At Dowon’s question, Jiyoon opens her mouth, then closes it. As if Minjae’s words and her own pace have come to mind all at once, her gaze stays at the edge of the table.
