While grocery shopping, I didn’t know that not wanting to wake up was different from what others felt.
While shopping at the supermarket, the thought “I don’t want to wake up from this” crossed my mind. I assumed everyone had thoughts like that.
Scenes
- Even while shopping, the thought crosses my mind — While shopping at the supermarket, I thought, “I don’t want to wake up.” I assumed everyone felt that way and let the thought pass.
- I thought everyone felt that way — The thought felt familiar, so I let it pass. Familiar doesn’t mean it has no meaning for me.
- The groceries were packed, but the thought stayed — The thought stayed with me as I placed the groceries on the checkout. Even after shopping, I couldn’t stop thinking about how I’d brushed it aside.
- Familiar thoughts can be signals from within — Self-care begins with noticing when familiar thoughts come, instead of letting them pass unchecked.
- Tonight, try writing just one line — Tonight, write one line about when the thought came and what you were doing just before. You don’t need to find an answer.
- So I don’t let myself carry that thought alone — Familiar thoughts come from within. If you wrote a line tonight, you can look more closely at what came before and after it.
