When I close the door after work, I can’t think of anyone to reach out to.
Some nights, I close the front door after work and turn on my phone, but no one comes to mind whom I want to contact first.
Scenes
- Phone on, and nothing more — I get home from work and close the front door. I open my contacts, but no one comes to mind whom I want to check in with first.
- I wanted to talk about my day — Nothing much happened that day, but in the evening I remembered something funny. I wanted to tell someone right away, but no one came to mind.
- What comes to mind before a name — Loneliness doesn’t only grow when there are few people around. It can feel just as clear when no one comes to mind to share what you want to say.
- Write down today’s story — Try writing down a few words you wanted to say to someone today. Even if no name comes to mind, you may still remember what you wanted to share.
- Some nights, no one comes to mind — Even after you write down a name, you may still feel unsure who to send it to. When that happens, I look with you at the moment that feeling began.
