- If I miss one thing, the whole day is ruined. — After I forgot an appointment on a weekday, I started pushing myself to remember one task after another, even on my days off.
- Even resting feels like something I have to get right. — After a mistake, it can feel like I need to keep on top of everything to feel okay again. So I look for things to accomplish even when I’m supposed to be resting.
- Try having a glass of water. — Tonight, have a glass of water. Don’t count it as something you got done; see it as caring for yourself when you’re thirsty.
- See the missed task separately from yourself. — You can let the fact that you missed an appointment stand, without judging the whole day or yourself by that one mistake.
