When I wake up, today’s plans are already decided.
The moment I wake up, there’s a message on my phone asking what I’m doing today. I’m still under the covers, but it feels like the day’s already been decided.
Jimin gets messages every morning asking about their routine. With Suho, they look at what it’s like to be pressed for an answer the moment they wake up.
A little after seven one morning, Jimin’s father messages to ask about their routine before Jimin is even awake. Jimin starts typing a reply, then deletes it. When the same question arrives again the next morning, they go to see Suho. In the counseling room, Jimin shows Suho the messages from their father. Suho points out that taking a moment to consider what they want to protect, before rushing to reply, can also be part of keeping safe boundaries. Jimin still hasn’t replied. The next day’s question is still on the screen.
Messages that keep asking about your routine
Even when someone close asks, you can decide how much to share.
When someone close asks about your routine, how much do you want to share?
The scene of having to explain your day before you’re even awake stays with me. I believe you can choose when and how much to share, even when someone asks about your routine. If you’re going through similar mornings, I’d like to hear your story too. We can think together about where to start.
