As I flip through the year-end calendar, my health is the first thing on my mind.
As I flip through the calendar to look back on the year, the busy days and the days I barely managed to rest sometimes stand out first.
Scenes
- Busy days stand out before the blank ones — At year-end, when I flip through the calendar, the days packed with plans and deadlines catch my eye first. The days I rested are just blank spaces.
- One day ends, and the next begins — When busy days pile up, it’s hard to notice your fatigue. Sometimes your body only shows how fast you’ve been going once a day off finally comes.
- The Korean almanac doesn’t judge your day — The Korean almanac shows the sexagenary cycle and seasonal terms for each date. It can’t tell you how your body felt that day.
- Your body’s rhythms show up in patterns — When you look back over a month, placing your most tiring days beside the easier ones can slowly reveal your rhythm.
- Pick one day and note how your body felt — Tonight, pick a day on the calendar and write one line about whether your body felt light or heavy before bed. It doesn’t have to feel different the next day.
- Days beyond the calendar are part of my year too — You don’t have to grade the year by its busy days alone. Look back, too, at the moments you wanted to rest.
