They’re asking me to send money. Should I save the conversation first?
When a message asks for money, sometimes you just want to close the screen before deciding whether to pay.
Scenes
- A message asking me to send money came in. — On a rainy evening by the window, I see a message asking for money on my phone and start to close the screen.
- I stop while writing a reply. — I start typing, “What grounds do you have for asking me for money?” Then I check whether the sender and earlier messages are still there.
- What One Line Leaves Out — To preserve evidence, save not only the demand but also the account details and the screen showing the messages before and after it. That makes it easier to check the source and context.
- You can wait before replying. — Today, before replying, I save a screenshot that shows the conversation flow and account details together.
- Looking at the Saved Screen Again — Even after taking a screenshot, something may still trouble you. Next time, start by noticing what catches your eye first on that screen.
