Choose a number before deciding whether to sit on the bench
This story is for anyone who sees a bench while out walking but chooses a number from a game of chance before deciding whether they can sit today.
Scenes
- Choose a number first, standing before the bench — You stop in front of the bench because you want to sit, but first you check a number from a game of chance on your phone. It feels like you can sit only if the number is right.
- Even resting needs permission — I chose to go for a walk, but when it’s time to rest, a number has to push me from behind. If I simply sit down, it feels as though I’ve stopped for no reason.
- You sit only after the number appears — Around five in the afternoon, you hesitate before sitting on the bench and choose a number. Only after checking it do you lower your phone onto your lap.
- When chance decides for you — A game-of-chance number is something you choose for fun. But when you start leaving it to decide whether you may rest, its result speaks before your body’s signals do.
- Ask your body before choosing a number — Next time you see a bench, ask your body once before choosing a number. If you want to sit, sit first, then choose a number for fun.
- It’s okay to rest without a number — It’s okay if you don’t feel at ease right away. Even in the moment you want to choose another number, the moment when your body already said it wanted a short rest still remains.
