Before the Delete Button

The day someone posted Sujin’s name and false information in an online group notice, she faces the counselor and today’s scene before the screen she wants to delete.

While out walking, Sujin checks an online group notice and sees that the organizer has posted her name alongside false information. She wants to delete the post and close the chat, but the counselor looks with her at what remains on the screen before erasing the incident. The story ends when Sujin’s hand stops over the screen again.

When You Need to Keep It Before Deleting

The more you want a scene to disappear, the more helpful it can be to first hold on to it as it appeared. Then the next place to look becomes a little clearer.

After the notice went up with even my name on it, my hand moved before my wish to delete it could. I saw that, in that moment, erasing the incident and keeping it were colliding on the same screen. • 01 · The Notice with Her Name The Notice with Her Name — An online group notice appears on Sujin’s phone as she walks. The organizer has written Sujin’s name and posted that she didn’t pay the membership fee.
• 02 · I Thought It Was Gone I Thought It Was Gone — Sujin closed the chat as if to delete the notice. But someone else posted the same content again, and this time tagged Sujin in the comments.
• 03 · Before the Delete Button Before the Delete Button — As soon as Sujin saw the second post, she said she wanted to delete it. Before her finger touched the Delete button, Suho asked whether the post still showed the name and time, so they could preserve the evidence. Sujin: I just want to delete all of this. Suho: Before you delete it, can you see the name and time together?
• 04 · Today’s Scene Today’s Scene — Suho suggests saving the entire notice screen that went up today. Sujin’s thumb remains over the Delete icon, unmoving. Suho: Shall we start by saving what went up today? Sujin: If I keep it, I feel like I’ll keep looking at it.
